The OCCRP cited me extensively in their landmark investigation “Fear is the Message” on how the CJNG weaponized social media algorithms to paralyze Mexico following El Mencho’s death in February 2026.

On February 25, 2026, El País cited my identification of 500 bot accounts amplifying disinformation about El Mencho’s death — including a fabricated airport stampede — in their AI and disinformation investigation.

Infobae México published two interviews with my findings in March 2026: the CJNG as a criminal enterprise with troll centers, and detection of coordinated Reddit activity one day before the operation against El Mencho.

On March 12, 2026, Ricardo Salinas Pliego demanded an apology for my bot analysis. The next day Harfuch cited my work at the presidential press conference. On March 14, I received death threats from the CJNG. The correlation is direct.

On May 4, 2026, Brújula News published my complete testimony on the harassment, assaults and death threats I received for investigating CJNG disinformation networks — one day after leaving Mexico for exile.
